Lanzarote | Teguise market Sunday

How to style a tunic
Latvian fashion blogger
Before we went on our trip to Lanzarote, I surely did a lot of research and planned each and every day of our trip. One of my must- see places was the previous capital of Lanzarote, the city of Teguise.
While searching for more information about the city, I found out that from 9am to 2pm every Sunday there is a big market held in the centre of the city and as the reviews were really impressive, I surely added the market to our Lanzarote bucket list. And, boy, I was so disappointed. Let's start off with the fact there were no free parking spaces, as in you had to pay to park your car even many kilometers away from the city centre. But ok, we didn't let that ruin our moods as the ticket wasn't that much expensive, only three euros if I remember correctly. We didn't let that ruin our moods as we really wanted to see the market, well, except for the fact that as we later found out there was practically nothing to see. Don't get me wrong, the whole city was packed with many stalls and way too many tourists, but, 97% of the stalls were selling cheap fakes of designer items. The most popular were Michael Kors bags and wallets. It even got to the point of being silly, because there certainly were a lot of items that were not dupes of the real items, but just basic, generic handbags with the designer logo glued to it. I mean, really? Well, yes, really... because there were tons of people buying the "designer" items. Seriously, they don't have laws for agaisnt that?  Thankfully, there still were some local artists who sold beautiful paintings of Lanzarote, interesting traditional chairs, some local food and dishes as well as other more local things. But sadly, those were only about 3% of the whole market.
If you ever happen to be in Lanzarote, I surely recommend going to Teguise as it is truly a beautiful city with traditional Canary islands architecture, narrow streets and lovely squares. But you can surely miss out on the market and visit this city on a calmer, less busy day.

Diez viņiem nepastāv nekāds likums, kas to aizliedz?
