Tallinn Fashion Week 2016 Recap

Tallinn Fashion week 2016
This article is kind of long overdue and wanted to publish it a long time ago, but as life has been a bit crazy lately I just couldn't manage to publish it sooner, especially because I wanted the article to be qualitative. Though, I am happy that I finally have an article to share with you and just tell you what went on the tenth Tallinn Fashion Week - what I saw and what I experienced. First of all, I'd like to take the opportunity and thank the organizers of Tallinn Fashion Week for inviting me and giving me the chance to see what Estonian designers have prepared for the upcoming spring. :)
I stayed in Tallinn for four days (three full days if we are precise) and I had the privilege to attend all fashion shows. I didn't quite manage to see all fashion shows, but the ones I saw, I really enjoyed and certainly gained lots of inspiration, had an insight into spring fashion and noticed some trends for the next year. The three days went by in a heartbeat because not only I attended the fashion shows, I also took the opportunity to explore and wander around Tallinn - I especially loved old their town. And, of course, a fashion week wouldn't be a fashion week without outfit photo shoots. You already saw the first two outfits here and here, in the near future I'll publish the third/last one.
If I am comparing Estonian designer collections to Latvian, then I have to say that I noticed that Estonian designer collections were a bit more down to earth. Many collections consisted of dark, greyish colours and there were just a few bold and colourful collections. In terms of design the clothes as I mentioned were more down to earth, but at the same time very elegant and delicate. In today's article I have gathered together my personal favorite collections from the second and third day. I am still biting myself for not taking my camera with my to the first day, because on the first day a fashion designer award ceremony was held in two categories - the silver and the golden needle. The silver needle is presented to a new Estonian designer who in the previous year has proven itself as the best newcomer, whereas, the golden needle is given out to the designer who over the past five years has constantly proven itself with the quality, functionality, beauty and contemporaneity of their collections. This year the silver needle was given to Roberta Einer, whereas, the golden needle was given to Lilli Jahilo. Both were my absolute favorites.
But now more about my favorites.

LV
Kopumā Tallinā pabiju četras dienas (ja precizēju - trīs pilnas dienas) un man bija dota patiešām lieliska iespēja apmeklēt visas modes skates.

IRIS JANVIER

The first designer I would like to mention is the brand Iris Janvier, because I think that this spring/summer collection was one of the most functional as in ready-to-wear collections showcased in this fashion week.  I loved the fact that the collection was filled with many different garments starting from dresses, to tops, pants, skirts, sweaters etc. Each model that walked down the runway was styled to the point. Honestly take any outfit from this collection and you'll be ready to go and hit the streets. Perfect attention to the details and accessories.

Paņem jebkuru tērpu un Tu varēsi kaut tūlīt to uzvilkt, nemainot pilnībā neko.

DIANE ARNO
I can surely say that this was one of the most stylish collections because the show was very well thought out, starting from a creepy/cool intro video to the stylish garments and accessories. The main focus of this collection was put on military style which visible throughout the whole collection. I loved how interesting and quite unique the outfits were, especially the unexpected accessories (how cool are those glasses?). Though, I have to add that this collection was one of the hardest to visually comprehend because the runway was quite dark and the models were walking in a fast pace which not only made it challenging to see the outfit and the details, but also to capture them in photos.

Marimo Fashion
The collection mainly consisted of beautiful silk or similar fabric dresses, which were very feminine and elegant. I, for sure, saw some pieces I'd like in my wardrobe. I was in love with the colour choice, especially with the pastels as you know how dear they are to me.

A very minimalistic style collection in which the main accent of colour was a pop of red lipstick or a red rose in the hands of models. It would be interesting to know the meaning behind it. Dark shades dominated throughout this collection and I was totally smitten by the choice of fabrics - starting from the soft velvet to rough wool. A beautiful and very cohesive collection.

VILVE UNT
I can't say that this is my favorite collection, but I do admire the designer and the vision behind this collection, because it is unique and different to any collection I saw at the TFW. I loved how the collection was presented, because throughout the fashion show there were models who were walking alongside the catwalk in grey dresses and colourful shoes. They were made significantly older with grey hair, wrinkles and big glasses, meanwhile more colourful and bold pieces were shown on the runway in the middle. Would love to know the story behind this, because I did think of the possible philosophical meanings long after the fashion show.

MAMMU COUTURE
I did save the dessert for the last, because, truly, this collection was my favorite collection of all the shows I saw during these three days. This collection had me almost gasping at some points. I was able to spot some vintage style elements in the collection, for example, the governess style collars and the full flounced skirt. I admire the designer behind this collection because you can definitely see how much effort has been put into creating each garment and how each was unique in it's own way. Though, of course, there also were some little details that made the collection cohesive, for example, ribbons, glitter and so on. A truly stunning, feminine collection that left me daydreaming,

    1. Jā, galu galā kaimiņi esam :) Piekrītu, ka kolekcijas ir līdzīgas mūsu dizaineru kolekcijām, bet kā jau pieminēju rakstā, tad igauņu kolekcijās pamanīju vairāk tieši atturīgos toņus un fasonus.
