20 random facts about me

This is another scheduled post I made a little while as probably now I am soaking the Canary island sun! 🙂
I had been thinking of making a bit more personal post for a while now and as I just recently saw a similar post at www.kristianavasarina.com, I thought I should actually go for it! 🙂 I know that this blog could associate more with fashion, outfit posts, weekly Ebay bargains etc., but I wanted to make a post for you to get to know me a tiny bit better. I know a lot of you might be more interested in pictures and fashion related things, but only judging by my experience I like to know a bit more about the person whose blog I am reading. Haha, I think I could actually be the case of “curiosity killed the cat” as I am a bit nosy! 🙂

Anyways, here are some facts about me that you might or might not know about me!
#1 My all time favorite song is Snow Patrol- Chasing Cars, I can clearly remember the first time I heard it- I felt an  immediate connection to it. And even though it has been more than 7 years since I heard it for the first time, I can still listen to it over and over again!
#2 When I am sleeping in the bed alone, I still cuddle up with my stuffed animal rabbit. There is nothing more comforting for me than falling asleep while holding it!
#3 I failed my drivers license practical test the first time, so I had to do it again. I was so disappointed in myself and even cried for almost an hour, just because I knew I had to go through the whole process again! I had never felt so stressed in my life!
#4 To most of people it comes as a surprise- my biggest aspiration and idol is Michael Schumacher ( a F1 race car driver). I even have 2 posters of him on my wall! Ever since I was a little girl- on Sundays me, my dad and my older brother watched Formula 1 races- it is a memory I’ll cherish forever.
I was really shocked when I found about the ski accident where Michael injured his head. He has still not waken up from coma and this really devastates me! All my thoughts and prayers go to his family as I cannot even imagine how horrible they must feel!
#5 I have a cat and a dog! Both of them have French names- my dachshund is Josephine and my cat is Fleur! I cannot imagine my life without pets!

#6 I speak fluently in 4 languages- Latvian, English, Russian and Spanish
#7 When I was 6 or 7 years old I had a near death experience when a huge barrel fell on my arm ( would it have been my head- I wouldn’t be here, writing this post!). I broke few fingers, but otherwise I was fine and I still feel lucky about the whole situation!
#8 Have you ever seen a picture where I am smiling with my teeth? Probably not, because I am really not happy with my teeth as they are not completely straight and I very rarely smile with my mouth open! But that will change soon as I am finally brave enough to start wearing braces! I am still scared of the whole process, but I finally want to put an end to this insecurity!

#9 When I was little I really wanted to be a veterinarian. Until my dreams were crashed when my brother told me that as a veterinarian I should help cows in labor and he actually showed me a video on Discovery channel how cows give birth! In conclusion- I was traumatized for many years! 😀
#10 Sometimes I watch reality TV shows ( yeah, I know, I know- judge me if you want!). I really liked watching The Jersey Shore, mostly because of their inside jokes and pranks! And right now I am watching The Bachelor & The Bachelorette! Well, what can I do- they really entertain me! 😀
#11 My first job is actually my current one. H&M was only the second place I sent my CV to – I got a call from them the next day and after few interviews I was hired! There has never been a single regret about working at H&M as the atmosphere and the colleagues are the best I could ever ask for!

#12 The title of my blog is in no way associated with the Carly Rae Jepsen’s song Call me maybe, because the title of my blog was made before the song even came out and if I had known about the song and how annoyingly catchy it was, I might have picked a different title. But since a blog is related with it’s title, I think it would be stupid to change it, because that would only confuse many people.
I named my blog Call me Maddie, just because my name is Madara and to English speaking people it is hard to pronounce, so I used a reference- My  name is Madara, but you can call me Maddie.
#13 A few years ago I was really obsessed with the game The Sims! There were days I would only spend by playing this game from early morning till late night! It is actually crazy to think about that!
#14 I am a really sarcastic person. I have heard it from a lot of people that before they knew me they thought  that I was really cold and snobbish, though in reality I am a complete opposite! I think I should tone down on my sarcastic comments (though, I really love them), just so I don’t come across negative and cold!

#15 Have you ever wondered how I looked when I was a child? Here is a picture! 🙂
#16 I have seen almost all my favorite bands in live concerts! I was ecstatic after concerts of Muse and Hurts and this summer I’ll go to Kings of Leon concert! Life just couldn’t get better than that! 🙂
#17 I really dislike cooking! It is actually the least favorite activity in the day for me! I would rather eat something that is very easy to make (like spaghetti with cheese) rather than making a proper meal. Sometimes I eat cereal with milk in dinner! Haha, such a healthy lifestyle, right?
#18 I have a really big fear of losing things! Last summer I lost my favorite hair brush ( I used it for more than 15 years) and my favorite ring in a club and I still cannot get over the fact that I was so reckless and lost them! I was bummed for many days!

#19 My favorite candy is Milka’s chocolate and Haribo Gummybears ( I can eat the whole pack in less than 15 minutes!)
#20 There is absolutely nothing funnier for me than cat videos! This by far is my favorite cat video of all! I think I could seriously spend the whole day of just watching funny cat videos! 🙂
This might have been the longest post I have ever written! I hope you liked this post and if you found something that is relevant to you I would definitely love to know!
~With love~

  5. March 25, 2014 / 22:12

Maddie, you have nothing to be afraid of when you get braces! Though they might be a bit painful the first few days when you go to get them tightened (since your teeth are being "moved"), it's really nothing to worry about it. It's only harmless wire and metal on your teeth. This is coming from my experience 🙂 And I'm impressed, 4 languages! Muy bien! (haha my attempt at my limited spanish knowledge)

  7. March 25, 2014 / 22:33

I hope you are having so much fun on your trip!! I love these kind of posts. I can't believe you can speak 4 languages– that is so impressive! I can speak English and conversation Spanish but I am working on getting into more advanced Spanish!

This was so much fun to read – I love getting to know the blogger behind the blog!
I laughed when you said Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol was your favorite song – I had a boyfriend for three years and when we broke up, I didn't cry until I heard that song and then I cried for days! Still can't listen to it because I'm afraid I'l cry again haha.

And wow, you speak four languages! I'm so jealous! You're so talented!

I love this post! So good to get to know you better. You were adorable as a child and I don't smile with my teeth very often either because my teeth are all messed up – they're in the process of being fixed. That's so cool that you're fluent in multiple languages! I wish I could learn different languages!

  11. March 26, 2014 / 03:35

    1) Chasing cars is a beautiful song indeed!
    6) so nice that you speak different languages
    8) go for those braces! When you're wearing them you'll probably a bit more insicure (I was) but after that short period of time you can smile all the way 😀 😀
    10) oh I watch reality shows all the time (Teen Mom, The Bachelor, Boer zoekt Vrouw (Belgian program), KUWTK,..)
    12) very nice to know where your blogname comes from, I always want to know that with every blog!
    14) I can be very sarcastic as well, I just find it fun. It is a nice way of humor to me but not the only way 🙂
    16) would love to see Muse! (Reading about concerts makes me wanna go to one or to a festival!!)

Enjoy your holiday lovely Madara <3

4 languages!? OMG! I speak 3, English, Hindi and Punjabi 🙂 You must be genius!
And, I have a fear of losing stuff as well. I cry for days of I lose something, I thought I was the only one 🙂
